Anyone that knows me knows I love Billy Joel. He is a classic and his songs have an essence that will last for years to come. This is one of my favorites. It’s as if you are literally walking through a history of America since 1949. I just wish he would do part two from where the song ends off until now. Who knows.
This song takes me back to high school. remember the movie “Cocktail” with Tom Cruise and Elizabeth Shue. Good movie, great soundtrack. This was originally written and sung by Buddy Holly. I love this rendition by John Cougar Mellencamp.
The original artist of this song was Nat King Cole, he is a master of beautiful music in my opinion. Charlie Chaplin wrote the song and a beautiful rendition of it was on “Unforgetable” by Natalie Cole. This song inspires me to be more and to endure through heart aches.
